Hey, everybody ready?
There’s a fire within us;
stand up and go. Let’s
get higher and higher and
when you feel like you
can’t go any further,
hear it—feel the beat.
Power dance your way
out of this city. The wind
blowing kisses against
your cheek. Move more
than you’ve ever
done. We won’t talk
but it’s okay. Let go and
fall again. More than you
and me, just got to
drift in the summer
air. A thousand overtures
over the voices of the
streets. I will know you
as the one I want. You
make me feel like walking
on sunshine and you’re
in sunlight. We’ll see
the light over water—
how lovely. Your sunshine
on my eyes can’t make me
cry. If I had a day to give,
I’ll give a day a dream away.
Follow your dreams with
heart; and when it comes
true, so shall it be for me and
you. Much more than I
ever knew; girl, do you know
how much you mean to me?
What do I do? The world
only sees the rainbow after
rain; as with my smile, after you
have come. Have you seen
my rainbow as I have yours?
NaPoWrimo April 13 prompt, a poem that, like the example poem here, joyfully states that “Everything is Going to Be Amazing.”
This prompt reminded me of my morning playlist, the one I use to rev up as I go to work. It’s happy and upbeat; and coincidentally, the perfect inspiration and formulation for this prompt.
I wanted to use the actual lines but settled for rewriting lines, rearranging stanzas, and taking what I like from each song. I also preserved the order of my songs to really have it go through the same feelings as I do when listening to it.
If you want to listen to my playlist yourself, here’s the link. I hope you enjoy it as I always do.
